Tara-Jean Popowich
Lead Ambassador
Tara-Jean Popowich is best known as the winner of So You Think You Can Dance Canada Season 2. Since then, she has built an international career based out of New York, Los Angeles, London, and India. While in NYC, she worked as Carly Rae Jepsen’s choreographer and dancer, appearing on Jimmy Fallon and Live with Kelly. She is also featured in Pharrell’s Happy music video, the Turn It Up American tour, Groove Street Productions, and as guest faculty for Excel. Tara-Jean has choreographed for So You Think You Can Dance Ukraine, performed as a special guest, and choreographed and performed for Ballet Africa.
Her work includes teaching as an IDS instructor in Madrid, performing annually with the So You Think You Can Dance USA All-Stars in China, and appearing in Disney star Dove Cameron’s music video. She is one of six featured dancers in a Scotland-based feature film choreographed by Stacey Tookey. While living in India, Tara-Jean competed as a celebrity on Dancing With the Stars Season 7, making it to the Top 6. She was also named one of the “Hottest Top 12 Convention Teachers” in the U.S. and appeared in Calvin Klein’s Dance in My Calvins campaign.
More recently, Tara-Jean toured South America and Europe with VORTEX, danced in Shania Twain’s Swinging With My Eyes Closed video, and served as an official judge for World of Dance in Poland. She is also an ambassador for MOVE IT, the UK’s largest dance event, where she teaches, performs, and connects with over 28,000 dancers from around the world. Her choreography and direction include work with renowned hand-to-hand acrobats Charlotte and Nicolas of France’s Got Talent. Most recently, Tara-Jean appeared as a dancer in the FX hit series What We Do in the Shadows.
